Hi Ivan, thank you for reading and responding. You’re right that there’s not a very clear-cut answer, but much of the research I found involves the coating on synthetic clothing. A lot of it may not be water-resistant, but it’s likely fire-resistant (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just not great for the environment). The other problem with synthetic particles, with or without coating, is they are not biodegradable. Since the particles don’t break down, there is a higher chance of fish ingesting them.
